New Years Eve is a time to celebrate the year coming to an end and bring in a brand new year! Now we all have different ways to bring in the new year…some bring it in with friends, some with family, and others with significant others…however you decide to welcome the new year, make sure you are dressed for the occasion. There is nothing worse than to start off your New Year's looking like ‘who dun’ it and why.' Your New Year's Eve outfit represents a lot. It tells people who you are for the current year and also can tell people who you want to become in the upcoming year. So here are a few tips to keep in mind before the big count down.

Location location location: keep in mind appropriate outfits to fit the location.

1. "The Hallelujah Glory Be" look: One of the best ways to welcome the new year is to be in the house of the Lord.
This outfit I am all too familiar with. Being a PK (pastor’s kid) I grew up bringing the New Year in at church….sigh…when you are young you can get away with the fluffy sparkly dress with ribbons in your hair but this look should end at 10...if that. This is to say that I have experienced adults trying to fill this look at 35..smh…ought ta be ashamed of yourself. Here is a sophisticated, classy, stylish look you can wear to church without looking like you stepped out of the 'mommy and me matching outfits' section.
Slacks are always the modest choice preferred for church. Do a high wasted dark slack with a loose cuffed bottom. The length of the slack leg depends on the height of the heel. My personal opinion is to wear a 3-4.5 inch heel. For the shoes wear a bright color heel or a detailed pump. The shoe is always considered the anchor of the outfit, and to me the most important part of an outfit and keeps you visually grounded… ALL IN ALL DO NOT WEAR STRIPPER HEELS…do not show up in a clear translucent heel, ANYTHING THAT LIGHTS UP, or the platform shoe with a fish at the bottom…the fish does not need to celebrate the new year with you!...Then wear a simple shell underneath your festive cardigan. Tie the hold outfit together by adding your jewelry and a clutch. For jewelry go chunky and glitzy. Do not I repeat DO NOT go to Claire's and buy the sparkly bangles with glitter that sheds everywhere…instead go to Forever 21 and getting a bunch of shiny gold or silver bangles and a matching neckless with DROP earrings. For the new year bring it in with a festive drop earring…the studs had their chance at Christmas…

pants: Classiques Entier® 'Mélange' Wide Leg Pants, find at Nordstroms for $168.00
Top: PREMIUM ANTIQUE LACE BEAD AND CRYSTAL SHRUG, find Topshop for $70.00
Accessories: bracelets- classic metallic bangles set- forever21 $2.80; earrings-forever21$4.80; shoes: ninewest boutique 9 Carley $130.00.

2. “Get ya grove on with the fam" look
Beyonce said put your freekum dress on when your going out with your girls and tryna make yo man jealous …not staying in with your family..this is not a good look…anyways after too many sips of champaign, your really sexy 3rd cousin twice removed will look even more attractive and less like your cousin…which to some might not be such a bad thing..but your Uncle Mo might be getting the same feelings for you..and that…well just isn’t right lets be honest…so avoid the any embarrassing family moments try this: A cute cocktail dress! A dress can be cute without being too short…. Let me teach all you beauties out there a trick…the golden rule of cocktail dresses…ready?..ok if you are 5’7 and above make sure the hem, which for all you fashion dummies is the bottom of your dress/garment, of your cocktail dress hits 3-5 inches above your knee to be deemed appropriate…now you may say this is hard but every successful fashionista has a tailor…if you do not have one now, I would suggest you find one asap!...Anyways you can always buy a dress longer than knee length and have it hemmed….here’s a cute cocktail dress option that gives you the festive look…a little sholder..but don’t forget to bring it right back…you want your family to know you have class but still show them you aren’t the little girl they once knew….here is a festive option without overdoing the glitter…remember you don’t want to look like a child’s craft project..

3. ‘Oh Baby Its Cold Out There..Thats Why I'm In Here' look
Welcoming the new year with friends…both male and female…
There is nothing worse than feeling cold…I hate the cold…in fact if the world was warm all year round I wouldn’t mind, but since its not..sigh, I digress. Some may think that in order to look cute you must show skin..and in some scenarios, this is the case..BUT thanks to the fashion gods..they heard our cold bootie prayers…PANTS PEOPLE PANTS…I'm talking tight pants..loose pants..leggings..stockings…well not so much stockings…don’t let me catch you out in the cold with some dag on stockings on..and only stockings..You will be crowned Boo Boo the Fool for sure..and you're not going to blame it on me! So no stockings..unless you have a dress to go with them…anyways…PANTS… Sometimes its hard to dress for mixed company, especially if your crush is there…but ladies let me tell you..even if you have no booty ..pants are the way to go…take this for example:
Pants: From siwy ( fabulous store if you have money)- Hannah pants 218.00
Top: Vince Micromodal tank found at nordstroms- 25.50
Jacket: Bird by Juicy Couture found at nordstroms-$598.00 *yikes..in case you haven’t caught on…im not doing this on any type of budget…BUT …you can get similar looks for less!*
Accessories: Shoes: Enzo Angiolini ‘smiles’ platform pump- $94.95; Clutch: Ninewest – partybox lizard minaudiere-$29.99; Ring: Forever 21- $6.80

4. “Kiss Me, It's Midnight, Love!!” Look
This one is for all the happy couples spending nye together…sigh..I remember those day.
So no, I am not bitter…and NO I don’t envy anyone…being single is the best thing for me right now..MATTER OF FACT..BEING SINGLE IS THE ONLY WAY ANYONE SHOULD EVER LIVE IN THEIR 20s…ok so maybe that’s just my personal opinion…but some…well most…do find their loverbuns in their 20s...as for me i am going to remain single till i die....and if you are one of those googly-eyed people who does nothing but spend time with their boyfriend..and his family..and his friends…basically if your world revolves around your man..here’s the look just for you…teehee…OK I'm just kidding..but here’s a look that is festive..modest if need be…like if you're going to be around his family or something…but sexy…like if you want him to take you in the back of the restaurant and have his way with you…sigh *this only happens in movies*…

Dress: French Connection Floral Collection: 320.00 *this dress is amazing because it looks like it has sparlies and glitter all over it but…it doest have glitter at all!! Amazing right??!?!..just say yes to make me happy ok?
Accessories: neckless: French connection- $69.99; shoes: Dolce Vita ‘Tavi’ pump $168.95; Ring: forever21- $3.80

5. “It's So Funny What a Break Up Can Do For You” Look:
NOW you can bring out that bootylicious dress beyonce was referring to because
its just you and your girls at the club!
This is it!! My favorite and possible the best outfit one could find!!! This is probably because it is the only out fit I might even come close to affording at this time…note how I said at this time…I WILL BE RICH IN MIND BODY AND SPIRIT…AND WEALTHY ALL AROUND….sorry…speaking it into existence...Anyway…. Say hello Ms. New Booty! What!
Dress: Bebe- gold sequin tube dress-29.99!
Accessories: ring- forever 21: $3.80, gold cuff- forever21- $4.80, shoes ninewest- 59.99, clutch- bebe $19.00

So there you have it folks...that is all…before you count down ..or watch the ball drop…or search around for who you are going to kiss….*why do i see this happening to me* remember that you already look fabulous because you took the time to read this post and you’re fully prepared…*ok you might not have read the entire thing but you’re reading this part, that should count for something right?*…but all jokes aside..have a wonderful new year no matter how you are bringing it in take some time and thank the One who brought you into another year, healthy, happy and full of life! You got this my fashionista grasshoppers…now all that’s left is the 5…4….3…2….
